Registration Information:

YSI is offering a limited selection of our most popular camps this summer. We encourage everyone to register as soon as possible to ensure that you get the camps that you want. 

Group B children must be entering 1st or 2nd grade in Fall 2013.

Camp Descriptions: 

Camp times: 9:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.

Investigate different kinds of animals from head to toe and from the inside out. Learn how snakes slither on their bellies and how owls see behind themselves. Examine bones, fur, feathers, claws, teeth, scales, and skeletons. Meet live animals to see how they use these adaptations.

       June 17-21, July 15-19 and Aug 5-9, Vasona Lake County Park and July 8-12, Alum Rock Park

Meet and touch live reptiles and examine skeletons, skins, shells, and fossils. Learn how snakes, lizards, turtles, and tortoises use these adaptations to survive. Hike and search for wild reptiles in the park.

       June 24-28 and July 22-26, Vasona Lake County Park, and July 15-19, Alum Rock Park

Explore the watershed and discover the mysterious properties of water. Investigate water by dropping, spraying, heating, freezing, and mixing it. Visit the creek and search for critters that live in or near water. Take a close look at YSI’s live aquatic animals.

       June 10-14, July 8-12 and July 29-Aug 2, Vasona Lake County Park and June 24-28, Alum Rock Park

Extended Day Camp:

Extended Day Camp (EDC) is offered at our Vasona Lake County Park location only. There is no EDC at our Alum Rock Park location.

EDC runs from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and is a continuation of the camp day.  EDC activities include arts and crafts, story time, indoor and outdoor games and activities, hikes, quiet time, and more!

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

For camp cancellations the following rules apply:

• 100% of camp and extended camp fees, less a $25 administration fee per camp, will be refunded if requested by April 12
• 75% of camp and extended camp fees will be refunded if requested from April 13 to May 10
• No refund (0%) of camp and extended camp fees will be made after May 10

Because YSI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all non-refunded camp and extended camp fees (not including administrative fees) are considered a donation as allowed by law.  Upon request, a tax donation receipt will be provided.

Enrollment Change Policy:

Any change (cancelling out of one camp and enrolling in another camp) requests must be made at least 30 days before the camp start date, and are subject to availability. There will be a $25 administration fee in addition to the camp fee. Camps and extended camps are not transferable to another person.

Returned checks are subject to a $20 returned check fee.

Minimum Enrollment:

If minimum camp enrollment is not met two weeks prior to the first day of camp, that camp may be combined with another camp or cancelled. If camps are combined two weeks prior to the first day of camp, no refund will be given.  If a camp is cancelled by YSI, a full refund will be issued.

Scholarships:

Limited scholarships are available for low income families.  To apply, please complete the Scholarship Application Form and send it to YSI's office address listed within the form.  Call (408) 827­-5507 for more information.

Alum Rock Park Closures:

Alum Rock Park is closed on Mondays and occasionally when the fire danger is high. Camps will be at Penitencia Creek Park on Mondays and fire closure days.
